Surabaya has a historic significance in pediatric medical education in Indonesia because it was in Surabaya that the first teachings in pediatric health were introduced in the country. Airlangga University is the only institution in Surabaya that offers a specialization program in pediatric health. Pediatric Health Study Program Airlangga University comprises fourteen medical divisions, including respiratory medicine, endocrinology, cardiology, hemato-oncology, gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and metabolic diseases, nephrology, neonatology, tropical diseases and infections, allergy immunology, neurology, growth and development, as well as emergency and intensive care.
The Specialization Program in Pediatric Health at Airlangga University consistently upholds the Three Pillars of Perguruan Tinggi, which are Education and Teaching, Research and Development, and Community Service. In the education process within the Specialization Program in Pediatric Health at Airlangga University, the residents (PPDS) are provided with adequate facilities such as access to international journals, a 100Mbps internet bandwidth, libraries, laboratories, public amenities, and a network of national referral hospitals.
The Specialization Program in Pediatric Health at Airlangga University has renewed its certification and holds an Excellent Accreditation from LAM-PTKes (Indonesian Accreditation Body for Health Higher Education) since January 2023.

The vision of the Pediatric Health Study Program is to establish the Pediatric Health Sciences Program as an independent, innovative, and leading program in the field of Pediatric Health both nationally and internationally. It aims to pioneer the development of medical science and technology, entrepreneurship, and humanistic values based on religious morals.
