HEAD AND NECK SURGERY SUBSPECIALIST

Program Description

The Head and Neck Surgery Subspecialty Program is a 4-semester study program with a total of 68 credit hours. This educational program is based at Campus A of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga. The Head and Neck Surgery Subspecialty Program focuses on the study of head and neck surgical cases, including head and neck trauma, congenital abnormalities, head and neck infections, endocrine disorders, and post-tumor excision reconstruction. This program equips students with the knowledge and clinical skills required to become competent head and neck surgeons, ready to provide the best possible care to patients and make a positive impact in the field of medicine.

Vision

The vision of the Head and Neck Surgery Subspecialty Program is to become a prestigious center for Subspecialist Doctor education, characterized by high moral standards, competitiveness, national and international excellence based on the latest research and technology to support the processes of Education, Research, and Community Service (implementation of the three pillars of higher education).

Mission

1.) To conduct Head and Neck Surgery Subspecialist Doctor education while continuously considering and aligning with the Indonesian government’s healthcare programs and the latest developments in medical knowledge.

2.) To maintain the quality of education by continually enhancing the curriculum in line with advancements in medical science and technology.

3.) To advance the field of head and neck surgery through continuous research and studies, and to publish the results in journals and international scientific events.

4.) To produce graduates of the Head and Neck Surgery Subspecialist Doctor education who are leaders in healthcare, dedicating their expertise in the fields of science, technology, humanities, and the arts to both national and international communities with a health-focused perspective.

5.) To produce graduates of the education program who serve as teachers and knowledge reference centers in the management of head and neck surgical cases.”

Objectives

The graduates of the Head and Neck Surgery Subspecialty Education Program are expected to possess the following qualities:

1.) Professional : They should be capable of providing professional and comprehensive sub-specialist healthcare services (promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative) with a high degree of competence.

2.) Educational Leader: Graduates should consistently take the initiative to apply their sub-specialist medical knowledge in the field of Head and Neck Surgery to educate and train students, healthcare professionals, and the community optimally in the realm of education and training.

3.) Researcher and Innovator: They are expected to have a research-oriented mindset, constantly striving to enhance their abilities, skills, and develop new approaches in fulfilling their professional duties independently.

4.) Manager: Participants should be able to function as planners, organizers, coordinators, and evaluators in order to achieve the goal of improving the health and well-being of the Indonesian population, both on a personal and public scale.
