MASTER PROGRAM REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SCIENCE

Program Description

The Master’s Degree Reproductive Health Sciences Study Program (IKR JM) was established in 1993 and began with an effort to prepare the andrology profession with a Masters’s degree with most of the participants coming from the medical profession who would take andrology expertise. However, in the last 10 years, the Fertility Andrology and Endocrinology subspecialty related to In vitro fertilization has been established as a subspecialty program. IKR JM participants are currently dominated by midwives and nurses and the challenges they face are also increasingly diverse.

Most of the IKR JM graduates returned to their profession as teaching students so their role and expertise function as a master of reproductive health was not disclosed in accordance with the Special Instructional Objectives of Education for Reproductive Health. It is realized that the ratio of maternal mortality in Indonesia is 359/100 thousand live births. Professional development is needed in Reproductive Health Sciences, especially in Women’s Empowerment, Unsafe Abortion, Teenage Pregnancy, Maternal and Child Health, Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Infertility, and Cervical Cancer. This professionalism is not only clinical – but rather competent in problem-solving, mentoring, and empowering women.

Based on studies by WHO, CDC, and other world institutions, Kespro studies Women’s Empowerment, Unsafe Abortion, Teenage Pregnancy, Maternal and Child Health, Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Infertility, and Cervical Cancer. and we propose a new domain, namely Fetal Programming – preparing the brains of future owners (From Fetal Neurons to Nation Building) as well as agents of change – making a difference and being problem solvers in the field of reproductive health above both in the surrounding community and Indonesia.

Additional curriculum changes, namely Matriculation specifically for D4 Health graduates with the aim of equalizing subject competencies by taking courses set by the Master of Reproductive Health Sciences study program, Cell Biology course which was moved from semester 1 to semester 2, and adding new courses namely general reproductive health where with the aim of being able to expose students to get learning experiences that inspire/motivate graduates to contribute to solving problems or making real differences that can be obtained with case studies, direct involvement in the community/Puskesmas to experience real reproductive health problems or epidemiological research as conditional increase is necessary.
